Stopping by Woods on a Snowy Evening - Poets.org - Poetry, Poems, Bios & More
As an old ERT man, I always thought this was my second favorite poem of Robert Frost since I have always like the last stanza walking a creek from an investigation by flashlight and star trying to get back to the state car to start driving home after a long day. One night looking for an oil spill, I remember using the squelch of my walkie talkie to keep the pacing animal just out of sight following me along the pathway always parallel, always out of sight, to stop following me. I think it was a coyote, but I will never know for sure.It was just another night's adventure and a long drive home afterwards, yet I can remember how the night smelled under the stars.
