Battle of Sacramento, KY
We went today to see the end of the week where the white canvas tents covered the fields and ladies in hoop skirts dodged around horses on a scorching hot day. We found Will Frost with his partner left for Nortonville with little on him and his saddle broken. We ended up watering his horses, getting his gear hauled for him to the Springer Road lean to he was staying at with the horses, and tomorrow he will head out to Reno's Tack store to get his saddle fixed. We gave him our supper and water and I brought him back to Diana holding the horses and gave him $60.00 to ensure he was safe and he had earned some helping put down tents and help folks pack for leaving. I did get to visit with my EMA friends from McLean County who were helping out along with the fire department. I ended up falling on straw near a hidden tree root trying to help Diana get the horses off the picket line and ended up busting my right hip on someone else's straw trying to help someone. I am black and blue and off to a hot shower. No good deed goes unpunished. Hopefully he will be safe as he next heads to Evansville on his way to an Indiana battle reenactment somewhere in two weeks. Hopefully my tithe went to a good cause. Battle of Sacramento, KY
